On May 29 and 30, 2024, the RCT School for Crime Prevention was successfully held at the Benemérito Instituto Normal del Estado (BINE) “Gral Juan Crisóstomo Bonilla” (English: Distinguished State Institute of Education Honoring General Juan Crisostomo Bonilla) in Puebla, Mexico.
The event was attended by the President of BINE, high school principal, and about 280 first-year high school students and teachers, in the school auditorium. The event began with an introduction to ASEZ. The RCT School’s curriculum, “Various Characteristics of Myself” and “Autonomous Choice and Responsibility, Self-Control Over One’s Behavior,” emphasized the importance of self-awareness and the responsibilities associated with making informed choices. Additionally, ASEZ emphasized the importance of preventing crime through community communication and consideration, using educational sessions on ‘Empathy for Others’ and ‘Positive Communication’ to convey this message.
One student highlighted the connection between protecting nature and preventing crime, stating, “I want to make the earth a better place by preserving nature and creating a society where citizens support each other.” María de los Angeles, Andrea Cruz, and Amisaray Trejo, who are ASEZ members from BUAP University, made a presentation, and said, “We taught high school students the importance of caring for others and maintaining integrity. But I also came to reflect on myself and decided to live an upright life, practicing what I spoke.”
Andrés García Castillo, President of BINE, highly praised ASEZ, saying, “Young adults from ASEZ are passionate and intelligent. They care about others’ interest.” He said, “Don’t stop doing what you’re doing now. Your good deeds will lead to more good deeds, and the more you do good deeds, the more positive the effect will be. And eventually, the world will change.” After hearing about ASEZ’s environmental cleanup efforts, the President said, “We, too, should instill a sense of ownership in our students through environmental cleanups.”
On June 19, the President summoned the principals of the elementary, middle, and high schools, which are affiliate with BINE, and instructed them to conduct campus cleanups similar to those carried out by ASEZ. ASEZ will continue to emphasize character development and crime prevention through its RCT School activities.
