On March 22, 2026, ASEZ in Pretoria, South Africa carried out a tree-planting activity at eight schools and one park in the Cullinan area. On this day, an additional 100 trees were planted, continuing efforts to improve the local environment and respond to climate change.

This event marked a meaningful milestone, celebrating the planting of the 1,000th tree in South Africa. It was the result of consistent tree-planting activities conducted in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Affairs since November 2025.
The event began with a certificate of appreciation ceremony recognizing ASEZ’s ongoing environmental protection efforts and contributions to the local community. Officials from the DA (Democratic Alliance), representatives from the City of Tshwane, and members of educational institutions attended the event and expressed their gratitude for ASEZ’s continued dedication and service to the community.

Kingsley Wakelin, Member of Parliament, said, “I think first and foremost, apart from the beautification of the area and giving new life to this area, it also creates an awareness with the youth and students of the area to look after their own area and look after their own environment. It also plays a significant role in raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection.” He went on to express his trust in ASEZ, saying, “They are a great partner to work with, not only in South Africa but across the world.”
Jacqui Uys, DA Tshwane Chief Whip, also emphasized, “When we look at a tree, it is much more than just a feature in society. Trees play a crucial role in combating climate change and ensuring a healthy environment for future generations.” She added, “ASEZ has been a great asset to South Africa. Through its consistent efforts, it has continued to contribute to the environment and the future.”

The commemorative ceremony marking the planting of the 1,000th tree was a symbolic highlight of the event. ASEZ members and attendees planted the tree together, reflecting on the significance of their long-standing commitment to environmental protection and sharing their resolve to build a better future.
Sihle Neck, a member of ASEZ, shared, “After many years of effort, it is truly meaningful and a great joy to celebrate our 1,000th tree planting here in Cullinan today.”
Following the ceremony, ASEZ members continued the tree-planting activities at Chokoe Primary School, Chipa Tabane High School, Sedibeng Primary School, Refilwe Secondary School, Cullinan High School, Onverwacht Primary School, Protem LSEN School, Rayton Primary School, and Cullinan Park. Participants actively contributed to improving the local environment by planting trees themselves, while also sharing the importance of creating a sustainable environment.

This initiative went beyond simple tree planting, serving as a meaningful opportunity for the local community and young people to come together and drive change. ASEZ plans to continue its efforts for the Earth and humanity through various environmental protection activities.
