On February 18, 2026, ASEZ held a Crime Prevention Seminar at Jogeshwari Education Society (JES) University, located in Jogeshwari, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The event was organized to help university students develop a clearer awareness of the criminal risks present in everyday life and to empower them to become active contributors to a safer campus environment.
The seminar was conducted in partnership with the Jogeshwari Police Station as part of ASEZ’s crime prevention initiative, the RCT (Reduce Crime Together) Project. Approximately 100 participants attended, including ASEZ members, JES University students, faculty and staff, police officials, and local community members, all coming together to discuss the importance of crime prevention and practical ways to put it into action.

Among the notable attendees were Prashant Shelar, JES University President; along with Iqbal Shikalgar, Senior Police Inspector; Deepak Lonare, Assistant Police Inspector; and Mahesh Mane, Assistant Police Inspector from the Jogeshwari Police Station. The officers introduced real-life crime cases and prevention guidelines, emphasizing the vigilance and sense of responsibility that young people must have in order to protect both themselves and those around them.

A central focus of this seminar was the prevention of online fraud and scams. Through police presentations and role-playing scenarios prepared by ASEZ members, participants gained an accessible understanding of the dangers of cybercrime and learned how to respond to suspicious messages, financial solicitations, and situations involving the exposure of personal information. The event fostered a shared understanding that crime prevention is not the sole responsibility of any single institution, but rather a collective effort requiring the active engagement of students, schools, police, and the broader community. The activity also carried added significance in that it aligns with the direction of the United Nations and the international community, which seeks to proactively identify and prevent risk factors related to crime and violence through education and youth participation, ultimately building a safer and more inclusive society.
An ASEZ representative expressed hope that “through crime prevention education, university students will develop the right mindset and grow into young leaders who can bring positive change to their communities.”

Prashant Shelar, JES University President expressed his support for the goals of the seminar and endorsed ASEZ’s RCT Project. Together with Iqbal Shikalgar, Senior Police Inspector of the Jogeshwari Police Station, he conveyed gratitude for ASEZ’s efforts and a willingness to collaborate further, sharing optimism about continued joint activities in the future.
The event served as an opportunity for students to embrace crime prevention not merely as theoretical knowledge, but as a practical commitment to be carried out in daily life. Going forward, ASEZ plans to continue working alongside JES University and other educational institutions, local governments, and law enforcement agencies through regular educational programs, awareness campaigns, forums, and a variety of other activities aimed at building safer communities.
