ASEZ Expands the “Zero Plastic 2040” Campaign with Support from India’s Legal Community

On August 18, 2025, the ASEZ held a Zero Plastic 2040 campaign seminar at the Nampally Metropolitan Criminal Court Bar Association (MCCBA) and the High Court Advocates Association of Telangana, the state’s highest court, in Hyderabad, India. As the event took place within the influential legal community, it carried the powerful message that the change of one individual can ripple across society.

The story began three days earlier, on August 15, when ASEZ was officially invited to perform at India’s Independence Day celebration hosted at the Nampally Criminal Court. There, ASEZ promoted the upcoming seminar scheduled for August 18th through a stage performance.

On August 18, about 120 participants—including roughly 100 lawyers, institutional representatives, judges, members of the media, and university students—filled the venue at the Nampally Criminal Court. The seminar carried extra weight with the presence of Judge M.A. Javeed Pasha and K. Ravi Kishore, MCCBA President and Secretary General.

The first part of the program featured a performance by ASEZ university students from Korea and a screening of the “Right Now Right Here” music video. The second part included the Zero Plastic 2040 presentation, VIP speeches, photo sessions, and award presentations.

Lawyers and attendees showed far greater enthusiasm than expected, staying engaged until the end.

Judge Javeed Pasha of the Hyderabad District Legal Services Authority remarked:

“Nowadays, young people don’t pay much attention to the environment. But I was deeply moved to see ASEZ young people dedicating themselves to environmental protection through campaigns like Zero Plastic. I will fully support all of their future efforts.

He highly praised the practical leadership of young adults. During his speech, he further declared: “Who will join ASEZ’s Zero Plastic 2040 campaign? Raise your hands!” In response, all the lawyers present raised their hands in support.

At the event, 61 VIPs—including Judge Pasha and President Ravi Kishore—voluntarily signed the campaign endorsement. The court also awarded ASEZ with a plaque and a certificate, pledging future cooperation and support.

On the same day, 109 ASEZ members carried out a street cleanup near the courthouse, giving practical meaning to the campaign.

After the seminar, with the assistance of Judge Pasha and President Kishore, ASEZ had the honor of meeting with Chief Justice B. Suresh, who oversees the Hyderabad court. During the meeting, he expressed his support by saying: “I will throw away the plastic pen holder on this table.” He signed the Zero Plastic 2040 campaign endorsement

and regretting that he could not attend the seminar, requested ASEZ to hold another session.

As a result, on September 1, ASEZ held a second seminar at the Telangana High Court Advocates Association. Around 200 lawyers and court officials attended, adding 126 more signatures of support.

Through these two Hyderabad seminars, ASEZ secured the endorsement of a total of 188 legal professionals.

This outcome is recognized as more than just an environmental seminar; it strengthened the credibility of the campaign within India’s legal community and demonstrated the potential for spreading the movement toward a plastic-free planet.

ASEZ plans to continue expanding the Zero Plastic 2040 campaign by working with legal circles, academia, government institutions, and other sectors worldwide, leading the way toward a sustainable society through the practical leadership of young adults.
