ASEZ Launches Zero Plastic 2040 Campaign at the University of Panama

On May 22, 2025, in Panama City, ASEZ held a “Zero Plastic 2040” panel campaign at the main campus of the University of Panama (Universidad de Panamá) in Panama. This event was part of ASEZ’s global campaign aimed at raising awareness about the pollution caused by single-use plastics and encouraging young people to actively participate in sustainable development efforts.

Many students, faculty members, and university officials visited the site and expressed their support and sympathy for ASEZ’s environmental protection activities. The exhibition panels provided detailed information on the impact of plastic pollution on the environment and human health, as well as practical measures to reduce plastic use in daily life.

Influential figures also attended the event, including Dr. José Moreno Academic Vice Chancellor, University of Panama and Nilka Torres, Biology Professor. They personally delivered messages of encouragement.

Moreno Vice Chancellor, said, “I was surprised by ASEZ group working with such enthusiasm. ASEZ is promoting peace and harmony among people, raising awareness to create a sustainable world.”

Professor Nilka Torres, said, “ASEZ is carrying out various types of activities for environmental care, especially working on awareness to reduce the use of disposable plastics. I thank the ASEZ group for their enthusiasm in guiding the students of the University of Panama toward a sustainable development path.”

ASEZ members also shared their impressions of the event. Maryluz Alvarado, said, “Through the panel exhibition, many students were impressed by what we were doing and congratulated ASEZ.” Other student, added, “I’ve never seen anything like this. Please keep up this great work!”

Rodeliano Pérez, said, “Through the event, university students gained a deeper awareness of single-use plastic consumption and felt a sense of possibility that they could help bring change to both their campus and society.”

This activity served as an opportunity to raise participants’ sense of responsibility toward the environment, and ASEZ plans to continue leading youth-driven environmental initiatives around the world. The recent efforts in Panama have drawn attention as a notable example of meaningful change led by young people toward a sustainable future.
