On October 26, 2023, the ASEZ Global Forum for the Implementation of the UN SDGs was held at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla [BUAP] located in Puebla, Mexico. The forum took place in the campus auditorium, which accommodated a crowd of university students, filling all 252 seats.
Prior to the forum, ASEZ members organized supplementary events such as online support signature, photo zone, Korean language experience, and panel exhibition. Through the panel exhibition held in the lobby, many professors and students showed interest in ASEZ’s activities, which served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of ASEZ’s activities and environmental protection.
The forum took place within the hall from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It commenced with speeches from Secretary of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Territorial Planning of Puebla State Beatriz Manrique Guevara; Dean of Engineering Dr. Angel Cecilio Guerrero Zamora; and Alan, SDGs Youth Ambassador under the federal government. Approximately 250 university students watched the ASEZ introduction video and enjoyed the performance of ASEZ’s choir, “Let’s Save the Forests.” The attendees responded with a big round of applause to the touching performance.
After the performance, Andrea Gregorio Cruz, an ASEZ member gave a presentation on the ABC Movement, emphasizing the importance of the blue carbon ecosystem in achieving carbon neutrality. Afterward, Professor Lucero Montserrat Cuautle for biology at the university discussed the necessity of environmental conservation under the theme of “Terrestrial Ecosystems,” and Alma González Arraiga from the Interior Department of Puebla State gave a lecture on “Social Structure.”
Impressed by the forum, the Secretary of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Territorial Planning of Puebla State, the Undersecretary of Crime Prevention and Human Rights of Puebla State, the Dean of Engineering at BUAP University, a professor of biology, and a lecturer from the Ministry of the Interior signed in support of ASEZ’s activities. ASEZ plans to hold a meeting to sign an MOU with the environmental department of the university.
