On May 25, 2025, ASEZ members in Mombasa, Kenya, conducted a street cleanup campaign as part of the “AGC Project (ASEZ Green Carbon Project)” to protect the urban environment. The activity took place along Maalim Juma Mohamed Road, a central area in Mombasa, and lasted about two hours, focusing on collecting various types of waste that had accumulated around shops and residential areas.

Maalim Juma Mohamed Road is a bustling commercial street lined with traditional markets, stores, and street vendors, with a high volume of daily foot traffic. Due to the dense population and lack of an efficient waste collection system, the area suffers from constant waste buildup, which not only mars the urban landscape but also poses health and environmental risks.
During the event, ASEZ members thoroughly cleaned the streets, sidewalks, and alleyways, collecting waste equivalent to 20 full trash bags. Passersby, including merchants and local residents, expressed their appreciation for the young volunteers by offering them drinks and words of gratitude.

Fridah, a student at Mount Kenya University, shared, “It was very meaningful to volunteer with ASEZ members to help create clean streets. I’ve gained a new awareness of waste management, and I hope to keep participating in activities that improve our urban environment.”
This initiative was part of ASEZ’s AGC Project (ASEZ Green Carbon), a global youth-led program aimed at fostering sustainable environments through forest preservation, expansion of urban green spaces, carbon emission reduction, and city cleanup activities. In particular, coastal cities like Mombasa are vulnerable to land-based waste flowing into the ocean, making such efforts vital for protecting both terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

Driven by the belief that small actions can lead to significant change, ASEZ continues to carry out environmental protection activities around the world. This cleanup campaign, which began in Mombasa, delivered a positive message to the local community, serving as a spark for civic engagement toward a healthier planet.

We look forward to ASEZ’s continued efforts—taking one step at a time toward building sustainable urban environments—creating even greater change around the world.
