On October 26, 2025, the ASEZ branch in India carried out a cleanup and painting volunteer activity at the Lashkar Police Station in Pune, Maharashtra. The Lashkar Police Station is located in the heart of Pune Cantonment, near MG Road. This area is a bustling district filled with shops, cafés, traditional markets, and commercial buildings, and it is also home to both military facilities and residential neighborhoods. With a constant flow of people throughout the day, it is a mixed commercial–residential zone. As a key base responsible for maintaining public safety in the area, the police station’s environment and overall appearance significantly influence citizens’ sense of security and trust.
ASEZ conducted a large-scale “Cleaning Drive and Garden Painting” volunteer effort at the Lashkar Police Station that day. Volunteers thoroughly cleaned areas where trash had accumulated, including the police station’s garden, and carefully repainted the faded walls with red and white paint. As a result, the entire police station gained a brighter and warmer appearance. Lashkar Police Station’s Superintendent Girishkumar Dighavkar and Head of the Criminal Investigation Division Pradeep Pawar joined the event to encourage the volunteers. The activity was later reported in two local news articles, spreading the positive impact to the wider community.

ASEZ member Pawani Bummu said, “When we began the volunteer work, I was truly happy to see all ASEZ members united as one and helping each other. Some painted, others cleaned up trash—everyone carried out their assigned roles responsibly, which made the volunteer activity run smoothly.”

That day, a police officer from the Crime Department watched the ASEZ students at work and repeatedly praised them, saying, “You’re doing a great job.” He also kindly served tea and snacks to the volunteers.
After the cleanup, ASEZ played an introduction video for officers, including Pradeep Pawar, officer in charge of criminal affairs. He mentioned how the university students had come to volunteer immediately after finishing their exams and expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you sincerely for giving your precious time to serve.”

Superintendent Girishkumar Dighavkar of the Lashkar Police Station expressed his gratitude in an interview, recalling ASEZ’s previous volunteer efforts. He said, “First, when you brought lunch boxes filled with love and handwritten letters to our police station through the CHEER UP campaign, every officer at Lashkar Police Station was greatly encouraged and deeply moved.” He continued, “This time, the university students personally cleaned the police station and even repainted the old walls. I am truly thankful. Compared to other students your age, your activities are truly commendable. Every initiative carried out by ASEZ has a very positive impact on our society and is something truly needed.”

This police-station beautification project became a meaningful next step from the warm encouragement of the previous Cheer Up campaign—expanding from uplifting the officers to improving the public space itself so that it becomes safer and more comfortable for the community. Starting next January, ASEZ plans to begin by painting a mural on the exterior wall of the Lashkar Police Station. From there, they will continue gradually improving the physical environment and eventually carry out CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) initiatives aimed at preventing crime through thoughtful environmental design.

The police officers highly praised the students’ dedication and attitude, saying, “We want to give you many compliments for the excellent work you did today,” and “ASEZ students think and act differently from others in this generation. It is truly impressive to see young people volunteer so willingly.” After the activity, the Senior Inspector presented a bouquet of flowers to the ASEZ students as a token of appreciation, and everyone concluded the day by taking a group photo together.

ASEZ plans to use the Lashkar Police Station project as a starting point to continue working with police departments, local governments, and schools across various regions of India. Together, they will carry out environmental cleanups, space-revitalization projects, and community awareness campaigns involving youth and university students. Furthermore, ASEZ aims to build even stronger cooperation between the police and local communities so they can work as one team to prevent crime before it occurs. Through these efforts, they hope to help create cities where everyone can live with peace of mind—safe, secure, and free from crime.
