Argentina
November 6, 2024

On November 6, 2024, ASEZ visited the San Isidro City Council in Argentina to receive a certificate of appreciation for their volunteer work as part of the “Worldwide Cleanup of 14 Major Plastic-Polluted Beaches and Streams” initiative.

In October, ASEZ conducted global cleanup activities based on the “ZERO Plastic 2040” campaign in 14 countries, including the United States, the Philippines, and Brazil. These efforts focused on cleaning up the world’s 14 most polluted beaches and rivers. The campaign, aiming to create a plastic-free world by 2040, was successfully carried out in Argentina as well.

On October 30, 2024, ASEZ volunteers cleaned Alvear y el Río in San Isidro. The local council members who participated in the cleanup were deeply impressed by ASEZ’s active efforts and recommended that the council presents them with a certificate of appreciation. The matter was put to a vote and unanimously approved.

Federico Meca, Vice Chairman of the San Isidro City Council, stated, “ASEZ’s volunteer work is a highly valuable effort in cleaning up polluted beaches in 14 countries around the world. We all must recognize the seriousness of climate change. ASEZ is dedicated to climate change mitigation worldwide, including Argentina. In recognition of this, I would like to present them with this certificate of appreciation.” The city council unanimously agreed to this issue and awarded a certificate of appreciation.

Following the award, ASEZ member Micaela expressed, “As environmental pollution continues to escalate, we are facing new disasters every day. Volunteering for environmental protection is crucial at this time. I’m happy to have participated in this volunteer activity and would like to thank the San Isidro City Council for awarding this significant honor to ASEZ.”

The day after receiving the award, ASEZ held a meeting with the city council chairman, and pledged to continue their cooperation and volunteer activities. ASEZ and the San Isidro City Council plan to explore various ways to address plastic pollution together through future initiatives.

The world is focusing on ASEZ’s efforts to address plastic pollution, and its activities are expected to play a key role in advancing a plastic-free future.
